I'm Marina, an undergraduate at Stanford (B.A. Philosophy, B.S. Mathematics). Broadly, I’m curious about the mechanisms underlying the world—whether that be systems, organizations, markets, or people. More specifically, I'm drawn to why things work the way they do, what assumptions we make, and what happens when we challenge them.

I'm drawn to philosophy because it is one of the few disciplines in which I can question endlessly. I can disagree about something even if I was the only person in the world to hold that standpoint. I'm drawn to math for a similar reason: it requires that every claim be proved rather than asserted, and it rewards the abstract, structural thinking I love.

Outside of school, I spend as much time as I can in the mountains. I'm a skier, hiker, and aspiring alpinist. Music is just as central to my life. I'm a classically trained soprano specializing in Baroque music, but I also have a fondness for electronic and rock music.

I'm maintaining this website as a place to track how my thoughts change over time: what I learn, what questions I return to, and how my understanding of the world evolves.
